Kevin Hunter, MS, is a Public Health Analyst for the Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) initiative for Indiana’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program. He served 36 years with the Fort Wayne (IN) Police Department, retiring as a Captain. He served 15 years in uniform and 21 years in supervisory roles, including Internal Affairs and captain of the Vice & Narcotics Section. He helped create FWPD’s Hope and Recovery Team, in which detectives meet with people who have overdosed and connect them to treatment or supportive services. He holds degrees in criminal justice and organizational leadership from Indiana Tech, has been a certified law enforcement instructor since 1994, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, 233rd session. He is a frequent consultant to public health agencies, was a 2020 Mitch Daniels Leadership Program fellow, and is a master trainer with the SHIELD Training Initiative.
